What’s Your Plan?
You want to get back to running.
Or lifting.
Or hiking without worrying about your knee.
Or playing with your kids without your back tightening up.
You want to move without constantly thinking about your pain.
That is the goal.
But here is the question we often ask people at I.MOVE.
What’s your plan?
If you have been dealing with pain for weeks, months, or even years, chances are you have already tried something. Maybe you have stretched, rested, foam rolled, used heat or ice, or watched exercises online. Maybe you have gone to physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, or seen a specialist.
Some of those things may have helped for a while.
But what happens when the pain comes back?
Pain Relief Is Not Always a Plan
Getting temporary relief can feel great. Sometimes it is exactly what you need in the moment.
But pain relief and a plan are not the same thing.
If your back keeps locking up, your shoulder still hurts when you lift, or your knee pain returns every time you increase your mileage, it is worth asking why.
Why did it happen?
What is your body compensating for?
What functional limitations are contributing to the problem?
What needs to improve so you can return to the activities you love?
And most importantly, what is the plan to get there?
A Plan Should Have a Purpose
At I.MOVE., we work with active people who are tired of guessing.
You should not have to spend years trying random stretches, exercises, and treatments hoping one of them finally works.
A plan should start with understanding your body and what is actually happening.
From there, we can identify what needs to change and build a clear path forward.
That may mean improving mobility, building strength, addressing movement patterns, or working through compensations that have developed over time.
The goal is not simply to help you feel better today.
The goal is to help you understand what it will take to keep moving forward.
Your Goal Matters
Your plan should also be built around where you want to go.
Getting out of pain is important. But for many people, that is only the beginning.
You may want to:
Get back to running.
Lift without pain.
Hike without worrying about your knee.
Keep up with your kids.
Return to your sport.
Feel confident in your body again.
Your goal should help guide the plan.
Because getting you back to walking without pain is different from preparing you to run a marathon. Getting you through your workday is different from helping you return to CrossFit.
The finish line matters.
So, What’s Your Plan?
If you are currently dealing with pain, ask yourself what your actual plan is.
Are you simply managing symptoms?
Are you waiting for it to get better?
Are you trying different things without knowing whether they are addressing the real problem?
Or do you have a clear understanding of what is going on and what needs to happen next?
If not, it may be time to stop guessing.
At I.MOVE., we believe active people deserve more than a temporary fix. We believe you should understand what is happening in your body, what is contributing to the problem, and what your next steps should be.
Because feeling better is great.
But having a plan is better.
